Uganda - Education

We have an opportunity for a $50,000 match to support education in Uganda. 

INITIATIVE 

Every day, children living in poverty wake up and do chores instead of going to school. But you can step in and change the equation for 1,101 vulnerable children in Uganda. 

Education, including preschool education, is essential to breaking the cycle of poverty: 90% of a child's brain development happens by age 5. By providing quality education, you can prepare these students to sustain themselves and their families in the future. You’ll equip them to become leaders, decision-makers, and influencers who bring positive and lasting change in Uganda.  

WHY IS your partnership needed? 

Statistics for Uganda:  

•   Only 2% of children under the age of 5 have read 3 or more children’s books. 

•   The primary school dropout rate is 64.5%. 

•   Only 32.1% of the population (age 25 and older) has some level of secondary school education. 

Development Goal 1: 

Improve the standard of education and life skills for 2,000 children ages 4–25 years and encourage sustainability through the building of infrastructure.   

Development Goal 2: 

Improve academic performance in reading, writing, speaking, comprehension, and mathematics to improve examination results. Maintain a radical and inclusive learning environment that enables students to succeed regardless of academic ability, class, gender, location, disability, or reproductive or parenting status.
