It’s summertime here in the U.S., and as school comes to an end, now is the perfect time to write a letter to your sponsored child or student! Whether your sponsored student is going into their last year of university or has just finished their first year of kindergarten, your letters will bring joy and excitement to their day.

Writing these letters does not have to be elaborate. In fact, writing even a simple letter to your sponsored child or student helps them see how loved and cared for they are. Your words of encouragement go a long way in bringing a child or student a bit of hope and making them feel supported.

Sometimes, it’s hard to decide what should go in the letter. Choosing just the right words to say can be a challenging task. Beyond encouraging and celebrating your sponsored child or student, including a Bible verse is one of the best ways to connect with them spiritually. When you share a Bible verse with them, you also share your love for God and God’s love for them.

Now the question is, what Bible verse should you include in your letter? God’s Word is full of verses for and about children, and to ease the fatigue of searching through the whole Bible, here are some good Bible verses to include in your letter.

1. Matthew 19:14 (NIV): “Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.’”

The Bible tells us that the kingdom of God belongs to the little children, and they are deserving of as much of God’s love as we are.

   2. Matthew 6:34: “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

If your sponsored child is anxious or worried about their future, this is the perfect verse for them. No matter how uncertain tomorrow may seem, there is no need to dwell on it because God holds us all in His hands.

   3. Lamentations 3:22–23: “Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”

God’s love and compassion for us allow us to extend that same love to others. Because of Him, we can walk in the light and be people who transform our nations in honor of God.

   4. Ephesians 4:32: “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as Christ God forgave you.”

Because of Jesus’s sacrifice on the Cross, we have the ability to forgive our neighbor, no matter how much wrong they did.

   5. Proverbs 3:5–6: “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

If we are told not to worry about tomorrow, then we have to trust God to handle tomorrow for us. Without trusting God, we will be lost.
