Biography

Jordani and his father were inside the family’s home on the day of the earthquake. His father initially thought Jordani was dead when he found him, but then he heard his son’s cries of pain. He was able to get his son to a nurse shortly after the earthquake. They were later taken to the Children of the Nations Clinic in Barahona, where Jordani had his broken foot X-rayed and put in a cast. His mother and brother are still in Haiti, living on the streets with friends.

Jordani’s father, a tailor, lost his business when the collapsing building crushed his sewing machine. The family home and all of their belongings were also demolished, leaving Jordani and his family with nothing. COTN has made a commitment to help them begin to rebuild their lives once Jordani’s physical wounds have healed. Through your donations, Children of the Nations can help provide Jordani and his family with the physical, as well as emotional and spiritual, rehabilitation that they will need to reestablish their family once they return to their homeland of Haiti.

Update on Jordani

From Dr. Vicki Sakata, August 2010

Jordani Police

Jordani and his family live in the Delmas area of Port-au-Prince in a shack made of tarps and wood.  Jordani is hard to keep up with—he runs so fast through the rubble, his foot injury is only a scar of a memory.  His father, Benjamin, has become a leader among the COTN families living in Delmas.  Benjamin is a wonderful, Christian man and a deacon at his church.  He is also an incredibly gifted tailor.  COTN has purchased him a sewing machine and he is already paying back some of the COTN loan that he recently received.
