Banta Mokelleh
Upper Banta, Moyamba District, Sierra Leone
The chiefdom of Banta Mokelleh is one of fourteen chiefdoms located in the Moyamba District in the Southern Province of Sierra Leone. It is located approximately 40 miles from Bo, the second largest city in Sierra Leone (the largest being the capital, Freetown).
Banta Mokelleh is quite rural, with electricity and access to clean water and decent sanitation being sparse to non-existent. Mining and agriculture are prevalent in this area as the landscape is rich in both rutile and bauxite deposits. Agriculture includes fishing, rice growing, and oil palm plantations.
