In an effort to attain self-sustainability for our Medical Clinic in the Dominican Republic, the construction of a medical lab wing has been identified as a means of generating funds to offset costs associated with the clinic. Because lab tests are often needed by doctors and hospitals in the area, and because there is not a fully functional, reliable lab in the region, many tests are sent to Santo Domingo for evaluation. By capturing this local market, COTN believes revenue from a diagnostic lab will help offset the clinic budget, allowing COTN to reallocate funds to other areas of ministry in the Dominican Republic.
