Kingston, Washington – Children of the Nations (COTN), already active in the Dominican Republic, was able to respond quickly when its neighbor, Haiti, was struck by a devastating earthquake last week.

Within a day, COTN had developed a strategy to aid the people of Haiti by making use of supplies and personnel already in the Dominican Republic.  However, Haiti’s needs are great and will not soon diminish.

Now the organization is partnering with Kennedy Business Park, Peninsula Truck Lines, and Kingston Premier Rentals to create a Puget Sound supply shipment for Haiti.

On Thursday, January 28th, COTN and its partners will be loading a forty-foot shipping container at Kennedy Business Park (5684 Minder Roadd Poulsbo WA 98370).  The container will be filled with meals packaged by churches, schools, and other local organizations; medical supplies; and SmilePacks™—kits of supplies for individual use—of two varieties: Hygiene and “Let’s Eat.”

Items on COTN's Current Needs List can be donated weekdays at the organization’s Silverdale location: 11992 Clear Creek Road Silverdale WA 98383.

SmilePacks will also be accepted at Kennedy Business Park starting at 10 a.m. on the day of loading.  Volunteers will be needed from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. to help load the container.  Any donations received after the container is loaded will be sent in future shipments.
