Biography

Matrida lives with her aunt, two brothers and two sisters in the village of Chilombo. Matrida’s father died of unknown causes and her mother died after a miscarriage; both died in 2003. Matrida is living in very poor conditions where she lacks sufficient food, clothing and other basic needs.

Matrida is described as a quiet, responsible and helpful girl. She likes to play tag and soccer with her friends. Her favorite color is blue and her favorite subject in school is English. When she grows up, Matrida hopes to be a teacher. Matrida helps out in her home by cleaning, washing dishes and carrying water to the home.
