COTN’s Children’s Home in Marjay Town cares for 88 children that have been orphaned because of the state of this country. Some lost their parents in the war, others lost them to simple illnesses or injuries that were left untreated due to lack of available medical facilities or inability to pay for necessary treatment. Our loving staff members are committed to caring for the needs of these children, giving them a safe and Christ-centered environment to grow up in, and providing them with every opportunity to become tomorrow’s leaders. This year we are preparing to relocate our children in this home to Banta Mokelleh, where they will enjoy a more traditional village setting and live in family-style homes.
Mallory Jansen Primary School in Marjay Town provides quality education to 300 students. Children from our home and the surrounding community, learn about God’s love as well as fundamental subjects like mathematics, English, and social studies. Additional subjects like French, arts and crafts, cooking, sports, and band are being added to give our children additional enrichment.
Our medical clinic provides basic care for the children in our home and school. The clinic also provides care for many of the destitute families in the community that would otherwise not receive any.
Church of the Nations is reaching out to the community of Marjay Town with its weekly services, Saturday Bible School, and special events. A youth program called the Sonshine Generation draws in many adolescent teens and is giving them the opportunity to be discipled and trained in the Word of God. An annual children’s camp gives hundreds of children each year the opportunity to hear the gospel and learn about the love God has for them. A weekly children’s radio program broadcasts the Good News of Jesus Christ over the airways in Freetown to yet thousands more.
