VILLAGE PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM
HAITI
WE'VE OFFICIALLY LAUNCHED MINISTRY IN HAITI!
Selection of a permanent ministry site is underway. We are moving forward with our plans to begin a Village Partnership Program in Haiti to bring children out of the cycle of poverty and raise them to transform their nation.
Our plans are threefold: 1) To register COTN–Haiti as an official non-governmental organization (NGO) with the Haitian government. 2) To identify and sercure property to be used for Village Partnership Program sites and a Mission Center. 3) To continue providing safe, reliable housing and ensure food and education for each of the families that have been in our care since January 2010.
The Progress So Far
Our dedicated partners have funded Phase I of ministry development in Haiti! This phase includes the establishment of a legal NGO and hiring of staff for COTN–Haiti. Our COTN–Haiti Country Coordinator and COTN–Haiti Startup Consultant/Liaison have worked hard to secure a temporary office space, scout property for a permanent ministry site, and identify candidates for our COTN–Haiti Board of Directors. They have spent each day ministering to the families that COTN cared for post-earthquake in our medical clinic in Barahona, Dominican Republic, and overseeing resource distribution.
Phase II includes land development and construction of a school, medical clinic, and other facilities that will allow us to reach out to the local community and invest in children who will someday transform Haiti.
Phase III picks up where Phase II leaves off. It is necesary to have a "Mission Center" to be the hub of ministry in our Village Partnership Program. This center will include a guest house, offices, and other facilities that will allow us to reach more children. In addition, this site will serve as a secondary school in the future.
Sponsorship Begins!
Now is the time to sign up to sponsor a Haitian child! Similar to how we have launched our sponsorship program in other countries, we are asking our partners interested in sponsoring a child in Haiti to initially sponsor our Haiti Village Partnership Program, as specific children have not yet been identified. This initial funding ($32/month) will be used toward development of our ministry site and staff in Haiti, program start-up costs, and to identify/enroll children in our first Village Partnership Program. As children are officially enrolled in the program, your $32/month support of the Village Partnership Program will transfer to a specific child—a child who now has hope and a future because of you.
