The Children's Home Model

Children's Homes

Our Children’s Homes are not traditional orphanages, as we believe the institutionalized environment of orphanages are not necessarily in the best interest of a child.  We believe that family-style homes provide the stable, nurturing environment that our children need to develop into healthy, relational, well-balanced adults.

A typical COTN Children’s Home “family” is modeled after a traditional family—a house mother, or in some cases a set of married house parents, who care for 6 – 12 children in a single-family residential dwelling, constructed with traditional cultural values in mind.

Children in full-time care with Children of the Nations receive holistic care and experience all that having a family entails—the love and care of “siblings” and “parents” and the responsibilities that come with being a part of a healthy, functioning household (domestic chores, food preparation, budgeting, gardening, home maintenance, discipline, family devotions, etc.).  Our desire is that children raised in our Children’s Homes will grow up knowing the value of a healthy functional family and yearn to create this themselves.
