A Letter from COTN Founders Chris and Debbie Clark:

Dear COTN Family,

Our children are growing up!  It was so amazing in 2010 to visit our children in Sierra Leone, Malawi, Uganda, and the Dominican Republic to find that many of them are now young women and men who fulfill our mission by serving their communities.  Children like Joseph Monosire, who grew up as part of our Mtsiliza Village Partnership Program.

Joseph’s dream was to become an irrigation engineer and help develop Malawi as a country that exports food, instead of depending on rain-fed agriculture for its sustainability, which he chose after working as a National Intern with COTN on our farm at Chitipi.  After earning a 2-year degree in irrigation, he is now the foreman of Chitipi Farm, overseeing five farmers.  They now harvest crops four times a year (as opposed to once), and produce enough maize and other crops to feed all of COTN’s children in Malawi, with a surplus to generate revenue for additional COTN programs.  The farm also operates as a demonstration farm, to educate community members from Josheph’s home village and beyond on how they, too, can produce fertile crops.

It’s amazing to think of Joseph as the young teen in 2002 who lost his father to a long illness and was the man of the house for four brothers and sisters.  He is a leading example not just for his siblings, but for the entire village of Mtsiliza, Malawi.

In the following pages you’ll see our statistics for 2010.  A core value to all of us is stewardship.  We long to make every cent count!  You’re going to read of lives changed both in the USA and in each country that God has lead us to.  This team of partners is seeing great change; we are building a firm foundation for many generations to stand on.  We praise God for going before us, and for you, our partners, who make it possible for a young boy, now man, like Joseph to change his nation.

As we look toward 2011 we’ve chosen to go deeper in this ministry—with our children, our staff, and with you.

COTN’s vision is to mobilize a movement of people who together reach each child God brings to us. Children like Joseph ARE growing up to follow God’s lead and serve their community and country.  It is through this that nations will be transformed.

Thank you for your partnership.

For the Children,

Chris and Debbie Clark
