Chitipi Farm Children's Home
Lilongwe, Malawi
Chitipi Farm Children’s Home is situated in the midst of an 11-acre working farm, where the daily activities provide our children with invaluable skills training in the areas of crop farming and rearing of dairy cows and broiler chickens.
The full-care residential children’s home was established in 2001 and is currently home to 33 children, including our special needs children. The home is run by a married couple who serve as house parents to the children.
The children living at Chitipi Farm receive holistic care (as do all the children in our care) which includes having all their physical needs met (food, clothing, shelter), education (preschool through university), medical care, evangelism and discipleship, and sports activities. Our Chitipi Farm house parents have also taken the initiative to institute skills training, done in the home, by introducing the children to tailoring, knitting, and home management.
Future plans for our Chitipi Farm Children’s Home (as funding allows) include 1) constructing a separate house for the teenagers and 2) sending the older children to university (through our University Student Program) or vocational skills training.
COTN also has a 350-acre agricultural project—Chichere Farm—near the town of Mchinji, west of Lilongwe.
