Who can be on the Advocates Council?
Anyone who has a passion for kids and who is financially invested in the ministry in some way.  You need to be self-driven and self-directed, working towards beating a path for Children of the Nations on your own.  We aren’t directing you, but empowering and overseeing you.  Yours is one part of a larger team to help propel and keep this movement growing.

What do I have to commit to?
Coming onboard with the Advocates Council commits you to a minimum of one year of involvement in the program.  Four times a year, our senior management staff, Doug Engberg, Chris Clark, and Debbie Clark, will host a conference call that you will be required to attend.  The purpose of these calls is to keep everyone abreast of our current status, discuss the previous season and generate discussion for the upcoming quarter.  With the Advocates Council spread across the United States, these conference calls will be vital to keeping a unified strategy, and thus the most effective team possible for growing the mission.

In addition to these calls, once per year everyone will be required to come together in one location for face-to-face time.  When you are out working hard to spread the vision of Children of the Nations, it is important that you don’t lose sight of who your team is, as well as whom it is you are doing all of this for—the children.  Lastly, each member of the Advocates Council will host at least one Share the Vision event per year.

Is there a fee involved?
There is no mandatory fee involved, however, since our Advocates are typically people who are very passionate about caring for children, they are typically already financially involved in our mission in some way, such as through child sponsorship.

As an Advocate, what kinds of things will I be doing?
Eventually we would like to have our Advocates be responsible for training other people on how to host their own Share the Vision events for special seasons such as our “Some Kind of Miracle” benefit season.  The idea is that this concept will create a rippling effect, and that the excitement and passion that we all share will spread to everyone we engage with in such a way that they too will want to become involved with the family of Children of the Nations!

Are their resources available for Share the Vision events?
Yes!  All the tools you will need for hosting a Share the Vision event will be provided to you, as well as training on how to host the events, which will usually consist of around ten to fifteen people.

What is the long-term goal for growth of the Advocates Council?
Our goal is to grow the Advocates Council to a national level, then regionalize it so there is a West Coast chapter, southern chapter, northeast/New England chapter, etc.  This way we can really hone in on the specific demographics of each geographical location and customize our message to be as personal as possible to the people of those areas.  Children of the Nations is everyone’s organization, so making it relatable will really help to communicate this important fact.
