Write Your Sponsored Child

Sponsorship

Download the letter template or use your own stationery:

Make the most of writing your child by following these simple tips:

  • Write plainly and clearly. You may use this form or your own stationery.
  • Write about things that your sponsored child will understand, such as family, pets, work, church, hobbies, tastes in food, music and activities.  Avoid using slang.
  • Encourage your child’s learning and relationship with the Lord. Include Bible verses and remind your child that God loves him/her and that you are praying for him/her.
  • Please do not discuss politics or governmental issues.
  • Please do not ask your child if there is anything they need or desire. Your sponsorship meets their needs and they are taught not to ask for things. We will communicate any needs with you, the sponsor.
  • Decorate your letter with stickers, stamps, etc.
  • Send photos of yourself and your family. Dress standards may be different in your child’s country so please send pictures where everyone is dressed modestly.
  • Send photos or post cards of places you visit. This will be educational for your child.
  • Send flat paper items such as bookmarks, gum, stickers, coloring pages, sports trading cards, band-aids, hair ribbons/accessories, etc.
  • To ensure your privacy, please do not include your address or contact information in your letter.
  • Please double-envelope your letter.  Address the inner envelope with your child's name and reference number.
