Banta Farm

Banta Mokelleh, Sierra Leone

Located behind our Banta Ministry Center in Banta Mokelleh, our 50-acre Banta Farm includes a Crop Farm, an Animal Husbandry Project, and an Oil Palm plantation.  COTN also maintains a smaller plot of farmland in nearby Mosenesi Junction.

Crop Farm
Each year our crop farm produces a harvest including rice, corn, cassava, potato leaf, pineapple, papaya, and other leafy vegetables.  This food is used to meet the needs of the children in our Children’s Homes and those attending our schools through a Village Partnership Program

Animal Husbandry
Our farm staff is currently raising and breeding goats, pigs, and rabbits to provide a source of protein for the children.

Oil Palm Plantation
Palm oil, a rich high-calorie oil made from the palm kernel of the oil palm plant, is commonly used in traditional Sierra Leone cooking.   The palm kernel can also be used to create bio-diesel.
