William E. Clark Skills Center
Named after the late William (“Bill”) E. Clark (father of COTN’s founder and International President, Chris Clark) our William E. Clark Skills Center is located at our Banta Ministry Center in Sierra Leone.
Each child in each of our countries is gifted with a unique set of talents, passions and desires. For those more suited or desiring to enter a skill-based vocation, Children of the Nations seeks to provide them with the training/education they need to succeed. Enrollment at our William E. Clark Skills Center is also available to young adults who, for various reasons, missed out on educational opportunities as children, as well as parents of children in our programs. COTN recognizes the value of equipping these adults with vocational skills to be self-sufficient and properly able to provide for their families, as the children in their care will directly benefit.
The programs currently offered, which are designed to be culturally relevant, meet an existing or emerging market, and be supported by the local economy, include:
- Tailoring
- Tie-Dyeing
- Batik
- Traditional Weaving
- Soap Making
Students enrolled in the skills center also receive instruction in core classes which address:
- English as a Second Language (ESL)
- Mathematics
- Business Management
- Community Development
Future programs (as funding allows) include: Carpentry, Mechanics, Computers, and Hairdressing.
