Mtendere, Chisomo, and Chimwemwe do everything together.  These triplets share a favorite color (pink), a favorite food (kamba: potato chips), and a favorite hobby (playing with dolls). They also share the promise of a bright future thanks to Children of the Nations (COTN). Their mother, Julietta, was left by her husband before giving birth to the triplets. At the government clinic, the doctor warned Julietta she would need extra milk, as her breast milk would not be enough to feed all three of her newborns. Unfortunately, Julietta had no money and therefore little hope of keeping all her children alive.

She managed for one month, feeling helpless as the triplets grew weaker by the day. Then, the village headman suggested Julietta apply for Children of the Nations' Feeding Center in Mtsiliza, her village. Not only did COTN provide her with the much needed milk, they welcomed her triplets into their Village Partnership Program, and they began attending nursery school. The change in the triplets was swift. The girls gained strength and grew into their vivacious and joyous selves. Now, they are “always together,” says Julietta. “When one is laughing, they all are laughing. When one is praying, they all are praying.” The girls are especially thrilled when they receive gifts from their sponsors; they talk about them all day, even as they lay down at bedtime.

The dramatic change in the girls’ lives has rippled throughout the rest of their family. After seeing COTN assist with some of the financial burden of triplets, Julietta’s husband was encouraged and returned to his family. They have since had another child and Julietta’s husband now works in Lilongwe as a security guard. This entire family is hopeful and exited about their future together. “Now I have hope that God will help me,” Julietta says.

Through COTN, God has given this family the very attributes Juiletta named the triplets after: Mtendere (peace), Chisomo (grace), and Chimwemwe (happiness).
