This month, Children of the Nations was chosen as the recipient of their fundraising efforts.
For their annual “Favorite Things” Silent Auction, Seattle Mariners wives picked out their husbands’ personal favorites—from DVDs and CDs to snack foods, hobbies, and highly sought after autographed items—and offered them up for auction on Friday, August 1st during the Mariners vs. Boston Red Sox game. The auction raised over $11,000 for I Love Baseball, a program of Children of the Nations.
Mariners All Star Ichiro Suzuki’s basket featured autographed items from his recent All-Star Game experience including his game-used elbow guard, as well as a Sonicare toothbrush and his favorite movie, School of Rock.
Left Fielder Raul Ibanez’s basket included autographed items, a gift card to the Cheesecake Factory, U2 and Rush CDs, a book written by Max Lucado, and many other items.
Other players’ baskets included items that provided a glimpse into their personalities: their favorite foods and candy, sporting and hunting equipment, copies of players’ favorite books, CDs and movies, gift certificates to their favorite Seattle restaurants, their autographed Mariners apparel and much, much more.
Children of the Nations expresses sincere gratitude to the entire Mariners organization, the players and their wives. Go Mariners!
