Biography

Chikondi lives with her elderly grandmother, one brother and one sister in the village of Chilombo. Chikondi’s mother died in 2000 while giving birth to another child (who also died). The father’s whereabouts are unknown. Chikondi’s family is very poor and has been unable to provide sufficient food, clothing, school fees and other basic needs.

Chikondi is described as a respectful and gentle, young lady. Her favorite color is green and she enjoys school where her favorite subject is math. When she grows up, Chikondi hopes to be a nurse so she can help sick children. Chikondi helps out in her home by cleaning, washing dishes and carrying water to the home.
