Teaching Far and Near ~

Being called to educate children is truly significant.  This is my soul gift, and I just want to serve and help as a teacher. As a veteran teacher, God has provided a way for me to work part time for Children of the Nations’ Education Department and part time here in the classroom here in Spokane, WA. In 2011 I joined as a summer Global Volunteer working with children and national teachers in Sierra Leone and Uganda, Africa. In 2019, God led me to become an Educational Specialist with COTN. I am thrilled to have the chance to serve children through education areas of the world that desperately need first-rate educators.

In 2011, I met Massah in COTN-SL and we became her sponsors. In 2022, Massah graduated with a degree in Mass Communications from American Bible University in Liberia. Her degree has exponentially changed her life in quality and opportunity! Today, she is looking at the mission field to spread the good news of Jesus. This is what educating the girl child can do in developing nations. This is the generational impact your support makes in the lives of children.

  • Teaching is for the courageous dreamers and most hopeful ones - those who commit to helping others towards their own excellence, and those who want to instill hope in the next generations to do more and to be more.
  • COTN serves thousands of the poorest children in the world. Children who are in desperate need of improved educational opportunities to help them escape the cycle of poverty and open brighter futures.
  • There are direct correlations between education and quality of life, especially in the developing world, and significantly for girls.
  • Education truly is the key to freedom.
  • “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” ~ Nelson Mandela

My goals are to:

  • Continue to work with national teachers to improve student achievement.
  • Continue to build the capacity of the schools' administrators as educational leaders.
  • Inspire the education staff to continue to develop skills and understandings that advance their teaching and make a difference in the lives of thousands of students, and to prepare these students for the future they will soon be a part of.

I am asking you to be part of the chase for education and excellence for God’s Kingdom.

You can be part of my new role in a few ways.

Will you help me by praying?

I need your prayers. I would love to know that family and friends are praying for me, for the teachers who will be learning new things, and for the staff, children, and communities I work with. My prayer points are for protection and health to do the work, and creativity and wisdom in constructing and delivering professional learning for teachers and educational leaders, strengthening relationships, and helping to assess learning. I need prayer for all that God plans to accomplish.

Will you consider partnering with me financially?

Please join me by participating in my personal support page here which contributes to travel expenses to work with teachers and children in our partnering countries. Through your financial partnership, you will be investing as a difference maker to transform children’s lives for generations to come.

Being invested in COTN continues to be an important part of my story ~ to work for justice and compassion and impact lives of the most vulnerable. Thank you for being part of this hope through your financial and prayer support as part of God’s global family. Together, we can continue to make a difference for children of poverty and trauma and for God’s Kingdom!

Thank you for your faithfulness. I am most grateful!
