COTN-Malawi staff give thanks to the Lord and celebrate Clement's arrival and good health.

Fourteen-year-old Clement Gondwe, one of our children in our Children's Home in Chiwengo Village in Malawi, has returned home from Dar-es-Salaam in Tanzania after radiotherapy following the successful removal of a brain tumor while in South Africa last March.

"Clement arrived today from Tanzania after a successful two-week radiotherapy treatment at Ocean Hospital in Dar-es-Salaam," says Yobbe Lungu, COTN-Malawi Country Director. "He looks in good health and is now back home in Chiwengo. Charity, [the COTN nurse that accompanied Clement] did a great job in comforting Clement during those moments when he reacted with emotions in Tanzania."

According to documents from Dr. Twalib A. Ngoma of Ocean/Mama Ngoma Hospital, Clement was given post-operative radiotherapy to which he responded very well. We await news that the radiotherapy, a follow-up treatment aimed at burning the remaining tumor tissues, was successful.

COTN-Malawi staff held an impromptu prayer vigil at Njewa Mission Center to thank the Lord and celebrate Clement's arrival and good health soon after his arrival this Monday morning.

"We will continue to monitor Clement's condition and will communicate accordingly," says Yobbe. "I would like to thank you for all your prayers and support."

To date, even at the significantly reduced rate for surgery, COTN's out-of-pocket cost of the surgery exceeds $18,000. Thanks to the generosity of our COTN family, approximately $5,000 is all that is still needed!

If you would like to donate to the fund for Clement's treatment please:

1. Click the "Make a Donation" link on the navigational bar at the top of the screen.

3. Select "Sponsor A Child."

4. Enter the amount you'd like to give.

5. Enter "Clement Gondwe" in the Name/ID field.

Once again, thank you to everyone who has given to this cause. You have helped save the life of one of our precious children, and we pray that God returns that blessing to you.
